President's Page February 2012

Here’s a “summery” picture to bring you “wintery” Hello to members and friends of the Antique Car Club of Pembroke…

On the tailgate of one month into the New Year, we’ve been fortunate to have pleasant winter weather and relatively good health for all our members. Ron and Lorne are each on the mend after some reconstructive surgery to shoulder and hand (respectively). Then there are some lucky members leaving for a Caribbean cruise. Perhaps, someday that could be a good meeting venue.

As we leap into February, we can look forward to events and touring for our 49th year as a club. As you know, our dues are due at the beginning of each year. A number of members addressed their pending dues at last month’s meeting. For those of you that haven’t had a chance to settle up with Wendy our Treasurer, you may wish to do this at our February meeting or stop by ahead of the meeting at her office. As has always been the case, there’s a smiling face behind the desk at TerMarsch’s. The cost is $35.00 per couple/member. As we decided at the January meeting, our February meeting will be a dinner meeting. After some investigation, we have decided to return to “Joey’s Only Restaurant”. The dinner will be at 6:00 pm and the meeting to follow at approximately 7:00 pm. We ask that all of you bring your sweethearts. (During the driving months this ‘sweetheart’ phrase would mean bringing your antique car as well).

Starting with a fun evening January 20th at the Seniors Centre organized by Lorne & Mryna, we can look forward to an eventful year. There’s talk of a movie-brunch and also a sleigh ride & dinner at Northfork, Quebec. Dore Bay Country Club members are working to fix some water damage – so stay tuned for news about the Spaghetti Feast.

You will see in this Flying Quail, we have added some ‘comfort food’ recipes. Also a ‘chuckle and restore’ column has been added. Both of these inserts are strictly fillers. If you have some interesting information or pictures you would like to share, please feel free to get this to our Chief Editor and Editor’ess (a.k.a. Bob & Mae) before the third Friday of the month.

Looking forward to seeing you all on February 1st for our dinner meeting at:
“Joey’s Only Restaurant”

Happy Valentine’s Day to all!
