Well it’s here! Spring has sprung, the snow is almost gone and it’s time to make plans for the coming season.
Don’t forget to mark the dates of June 9-12 this year for the upcoming celebration of Renfrew County’s 150 years. This should be quite a celebration as a lot of plans are being made by various groups to entertain the crowds. I know many of us will attend the car show and I am sure there will be other events that will interest us. I know one of the contestants in the Renfrew County Idol contest and I would like to take in some of that competition.
At the last meeting we discussed having another club rodeo this year and those plans are underway. Hopefully at the next meeting we can set a date for the rodeo and form a committee to oversee the event. Our gracious hosts of last year’s rodeo have once again offered their property as the location of this year’s event. So the location is set. Thank you Ray and Julie, your hospitality is second to none. Anyone interested in joining the committee please don’t be shy, we had a great time last year and I’m sure this year will be just as much fun.
I have finally gotten back to working on my Mustang. It seems the more parts I install the more parts I find that are missing. That’s what you get when you buy a basket case like I did. The nice thing is all the parts I need are available. There isn’t much you can’t buy for the restoration of the early mustangs. Hopefully it will see the road early this summer.
Our next monthly meeting will be held at the River Club on the Quebec side. I am sure the weather will be better this time than the last time we had a meeting there. The dinner will begin at 6pm with the meeting to follow. Those people that were at the last dinner there enjoyed the fare so if you are up for a pleasant meal or just want to attend the meeting please join us on the evening of April 6th. Hope to see you there.

Hello again, it feels good to know spring is almost here. The days are getting a little longer and the sun feels a little warmer, lets hope for an early spring so we can get the old cars out for a cruise soon. Speaking of cruises my wife Chris and I just returned from a one week cruise of the western Caribbean. The weather was good, the food was great but the whole trip was over too soon. Like they say time flies when your having fun and we did have a great time. Now its back to the ice and snow for a little while.
We recently lost a long time member of our club in the passing of Dianne Murdoch. Our sympathy goes out to Ernie and family at this time of loss. Our time on this earth seems so short when you look back on it, but being among good friends when times are tough helps a lot.
The weather was quite bad the night of our last monthly meeting at the River Club but for those that ventured out the food was good and the place was quite nice. The recent renovations have created a very inviting place to dine.
Our next meeting is back at the museum so if you can make it please do and I will see you there.

Well, we’ve done it, we’ve reached what I would consider the half-way point of winter. From here it’s all down hill, at least I hope that’s the case this year. Lets hope Punxsutawney Phil and Wiarton Willy are in agreement and we can start looking forward to some warmer weather. My wife Christina and I are off to the sunny south this month for a vacation so we’ll definitely have a break from winter even though it’s only for one week.
Looking ahead at the year 2011, I hope we have some interesting tours for the club. It may be a little early to plan things yet but if anyone has ideas for a tour or upcoming event that would be of interest please don’t hesitate to mention it at our meeting. I’m looking forward to our next Rodeo already. I’m sure one of us can give Jeff and Kathy a run for their money this year. Last years mystery tour hosted by Shirley Mullen and family, with interesting stops at locations within the local area and then topped off with a delicious home cooked meal will be a hard act to follow but I hope someone feels brave enough to attempt another mystery tour of the area. There are so many hidden and unknown places of interest in the surrounding area that it should keep us busy for years just exploring Renfrew County.
Our next meeting will be held Feb.2nd at the River Club just east of Debeau’s Store on Hwy. 148 in La Belle Province. We are having dinner at 6pm. with a meeting to follow. I am sure most people know the way but if not please call me for directions. I hope to see you there.
