Happy St. Patrick’s Day Greetings to our Irish and/or wannabe-Irish Members! Our picture this issue is Neil & Lori Videto in their Peace Van - they're great-grandparents but would still fit in at Wooodstock...
Our February dinner and meeting at Joey’s Restaurant, as always, was enjoyable and almost a full house. Mae, Shirley and I had fun setting out Valentine’s candy treats and delicious cookies which must have been good – well-stocked plates were quickly emptied in front of Jeff and Ron.
We were pleased to welcome Jim and Donna Savage to a meeting and subsequently into the club as members. Jim has said that for some time, they would see vintage cars on a tour and wondered how to get involved. As Pipe Major for the Renfrew Highland Pipes & Drums, Jim is a colourful (and audible) participant at many Valley parades. He and Donna own and operate Pembroke Crane and Tom Mix Cement. They are proud owners of a 1976 Thunderbird. Welcome to our ACCP family. On a sad note, we were advised that Jim’s mother, who lived in Fredericton, had just passed away, so we extend our condolences to the family at this difficult time.
As well at our meeting we succeeded in applying some ink to the previously “penciled-in” tours and events for the remaining ten months or our 50th year. Please refer to our enclosed Calendar of Events for future touring.
At our picture afternoon, on Thursday March 21st, we will be ‘touring down memory lane’. We hope to start by 2 pm to view pictures, poems and videos from the past. I am sure you have all been busy searching for pictures and memorabilia that you feel you would like to see in the ACCP commemorative book. Our committee consists of Bob, Dave, Lorne, Julie, Don, Wayne and Neil (others are welcome). So, let’s have good representation and give the committee lots to work with.
The Roy’s have a new toy, a 68 Pontiac Parisian convertible (we hope it’s not the one that Lorne had for sale a while back). It will be a grand touring car for the hot summer days and evenings. Congratulations Dawn and Ron to the new addition to your B-Line fleet.
Our March 6th meeting will again be held at Joey’s Restaurant, starting at 5:30 for socializing with a 6:00 dinner time and meeting at 7:00. Remember to bring your auction items – don’t be shy – we have seen some recycling of items in recent months – let’s get some new stuff to haggle over. Proceeds go to offset printing costs of our Flying Quail. In response to the suggestion of sponsoring an issue, we now have three families on board to sponsor. The Flying Quail has a long history and a good reputation, thanks to many editors and contributors over the years. Early on, it was printed on a Gestetner by Rennie Patterson, later in Glen Hartwick’s print shop, for while at Renfrew Printing and in recent years at Turbo Graphics, managed by Bob & Mae McCauley.
