President's Page June 2011

As I sit here composing this message it’s raining outside again! We sure have got our share of wet weather this spring. Lets hope we soon get some drier and warmer days.
A number of club members including myself attended the first annual EME Show & Shine at Base Petawawa on May 13th. It rained that day also but thankfully the event was held inside. It was a good show with some vehicles that I haven’t seen before. This is a show I will certainly watch for next year. On May 14th five couples attended the Westmeath Community Centre fundraising garage sale with their cars. Once there we met Tom and Shannon Dunfield who had one of their cars out for the day. That brought the total to six vehicles on display. By the way it rained that day also!
The May 24th long weekend is just days away and the weather forecast seems favourable for Saturday. The annual “Bay Days” celebration is held this Saturday and I hope to attend. My wife loves this show, as most women do. Could it be the shopping at all the stores on main street Barry’s Bay? Both Chris and I attended High school in Barry’s Bay and we usually bump into some old friends there every time we attend.
The club has a number of events planned for the upcoming months so stay tuned to the Quail for dates and times. Our next monthly meeting is at Joey’s Only Restaurant in beautiful downtown Pembroke on June 1. The meal will begin at 6pm with the meeting to follow. Upon entering the restaurant mention you are with the Antique Car Club and they will show you where to go. We will be dining in a private room upstairs. The menu will be shortened to enable them to serve us all as quickly as possible. There should be plenty of parking right beside the restaurant. Hope to see you there.
