Welcome to fall everyone. After the hot summer we’ve had the weather seems to have cooled down very fast. I hope we get some nice warm days yet as I suspect we all have a number of tasks to complete before the cold weather gets here. All the hunters are probably looking forward to fall and I wish you good luck as you pursue your game.
The month of September was quite busy for our club starting with a dinner meeting at the Sands on Golden Lake, which was well attended and I must say my meal was delicious.
The mystery tour on September 12th hosted by Shirley and Ellsworth Mullen was a great time. We had a good turn out and an interesting tour ending at the Mullen cottage. A special thank you, to the Mullen family for all your efforts and I must add that the meal was superb.
Our “Rodeo” was next on the agenda, which was an event that hasn’t been held for a number of years. The weather was favourable with just a little rain during the late afternoon. The day went very well and approximately thirty people attended. Many thanks to Ray and Julie Coulas our gracious hosts, Tom and Shannon Dunfield our expert caterers and the rodeo committee for all your help making this event a great success. The winner of the coveted ACCP Cup was Jeff and Kathy Videto driving their Mustang. The competition was keen with only a few points separating the top three finishers. Our evening was blessed with clear skies, good music by the Car Tunes and a bonfire. I think this may be an event that needs to be held every year.
The local cruise nights are wrapping up for the season and I was able to attend the final cruise nights in Cobden and Pembroke, which were well attended. I am sure the cruise nights will be bigger and even more popular next year.
Sunday Sept. 26th a tour is planned to Mount St. Patrick. Lets hope the weather is good and we can get the old cars out again.
The club plans a tour to Ladysmith Quebec on October 3. This should be a great time, as we all know “Octoberfest in Ladysmith” is not to be missed.
Our October meeting is at the Champlain Trail Museum on October 6th at 7pm. so if you can join us, please do and I’ll see you then.
