As November is almost here I am sure most of the old cars are put away for the season. I know the old International made its last trip of the year when Chris and I attended the Benefit Car Show held at the DACA Center on Oct. 17th. The event was well attended by a number of club members and people from Pembroke. It was nice to see so many people contributing to such a worthwhile cause.
Our last club event was the tour to Ladysmith for the Octoberfest Parade and some good German music and food. The tour started with ten vehicles at 9 am. from TerMarsch Fuels on Boundary Rd. in Pembroke. We toured through Beachburg and on down the Queens Line to the four corners where we were joined by another four cars. The fourteen of us then made our way from Cheneau to Shawville and on to Ladysmith. Aside from some minor road construction in Shawville the trip went very well with pleasant weather and no mishaps along the way. As usual the entertainment was very good and the parade was well attended by many antique and classic vehicles from both Ontario and Quebec. I have often thought it would be great to spend the whole weekend there as you could really enjoy yourself not having to drive home that day.
Plans are well underway for our “Christmas Shine”. Details will be announced in the Quail and tickets will soon be available. As a fundraiser to offset some of the costs for the party we will have a special auction at our November meeting. So round up some of your excess or unwanted treasures and join us for the meeting and possibly some great buys on something you just can’t live without. Our November meeting is at the Champlain Trail Museum Nov.3rd at 7pm. Hope to see you there.
